BIP 39 standardized mnemonic phrases for wallet recovery
BIP 39 defines how a random value can be encoded as a human-readable word sequence and converted into a wallet seed.
Mnemonic phrases made backup instructions more portable across compatible wallet implementations, reducing dependence on opaque key files.
