BIP 143 updated signature hashing for SegWit inputs
BIP 143 specifies a new signature-hash algorithm for version-0 witness program spends, including more efficient commitment to transaction data.
More predictable hashing reduces repeated work for some input patterns and supports hardware-wallet signing of SegWit transactions.
The proposal shows that scaling upgrades often require changes deep below the visible wallet interface.
Signing devices still need trustworthy transaction details; cryptographic efficiency does not by itself guarantee a safe user experience.
