BIP 158 specified compact block filter construction
BIP 158 defines the Golomb-coded set format used for compact block filters, including the filter parameters and elements.
A deterministic filter format allows clients and servers to agree on how wallet-relevant scripts are represented and queried.
Together with BIP 157, it became part of the “Neutrino” approach to lightweight Bitcoin clients.
Efficiency gains should be evaluated alongside privacy leakage and the accuracy of local wallet scanning.
